Online register of Trade promotion Lotteries
A trade promotion lottery is a free-entry lottery conducted to promote goods or services supplied by a business.
It is sometimes called a sweepstake, competition, contest, or giveaway. A trade promotion lottery must genuinely promote goods or services supplied, apart from offering participation in the trade promotion lottery.
You must comply with the requirements of the Lotteries and Art Unions Act 1901. If a lottery is conducted to raise money for a charity, an authority under the Charitable Fundraising Act 1991 may be required. A non-profit organisation is defined as a body of persons which is not formed for private gain, and includes charities, social clubs, registered clubs, political parties and trade unions.
The Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing uses the Government Licensing Service to administer the following Games of Chance Licences.
1) Art Unions
2) Charity Housie
3) Chocolate Wheels
4) Lucky Envelopes
5) Sweeps / Calcuttas
6) Progressive Lotteries
